Where it started

It began with a Community Project — painting positive messages in a school for children who lived with constant negative messaging tied to their poor neighborhood. A small act, with an outsized effect on the kids who saw it every day.

The session

Be Legendary held a Legacy Session for the company’s executives, using The Wealth Factor as the guide — a framework for finding the value you already have in abundance. Half-joking, one executive said they had plenty of one thing: hazardous waste.

The insight

That ‘hazardous waste’ was surplus paint — and in reality it wasn’t bad at all. It was simply the wrong shades. What the company had treated as a costly liability was, reframed, a resource in abundance.

The legacy

We helped them build a program around that surplus paint. Today they’re painting communities all over the world with positive messages — while saving millions in hazardous-waste disposal fees. A liability became a legacy.
