What it is

Inspiring Minds is a give-back experience with a twist most people never see coming. Your team solves an industry-themed science mystery to open a locked object — then the message inside reveals the real mission: children are arriving as the young scientists, and your people spend the back half of the program making someone else the one who discovers something. Competitors become teachers in the space of one sentence. It runs as one ninety-minute program in three industry variations, plus a hands-on build-and-place format, and scales from a single executive pod to a two-thousand-person general session.

The name is not only about the children. The adults are the heroes of this story — and they leave inspired by the young minds they came to inspire.

The young scientists

One child joins each team of three. The child does the experiment; the adults build the conditions for discovery — the hardest, most revealing thing they’ll do all day. Then each child presents what they found.

The second reveal

Every child receives their own locked object — already locked, combination withheld. Solve it, reset it, and build a mystery for someone else.

The rules we don’t bend: no lecture before the mystery, physical objects over screens, the child manipulates the materials and the adult never takes them back, the reveal reframes rather than concludes — and the take-home object is resettable. A souvenir ends the program; a resettable one multiplies it.

Variation I

Secrets Through Time

For thousands of years people have asked the same five questions: how do I hide information, rearrange it, disguise it, move it across distance, and recover what someone else has protected? The people in the room solve those problems for a living — invisible ink, a scytale, a cipher wheel, a signal lamp, a code to break. Quiet and table-based: the most scalable of the three, from a boardroom to a ballroom of hundreds.

Variation II

Trace Evidence

Healthcare · Life sciences · Legal · Insurance · Audit

Every contact leaves a trace. Five teams each get one thread from the same incident — a smudged print, an ink sample, a fiber, an impression, two accounts that can’t both be true — and none resolves alone. Nothing here is about crime; the discipline is noticing, then refusing to fall in love with the first hypothesis. It’s the closest of the three to what a diagnostician, underwriter or auditor actually does.

Variation III

The Long Current

Energy · Utilities · Manufacturing · Logistics · Telecom

Two hundred years ago, moving a force from one place to another was the hardest problem in the world. Five teams work the discoveries that solved it — charge, circuit, magnetism, motion, signal — each a thing that lights, spins, moves, or stubbornly does not. The loudest and most visual of the three, and the best choice for a large room or a business measured in things that move.

The lockA circuit box that opens only when the loop is closed — the last connection made by hand, joining two teams.

Choosing a variation: match the subject to what your people already respect. Security, software and finance take Secrets Through Time; anyone whose job is diagnosis, evidence or judgement takes Trace Evidence; anyone who builds, powers or moves things takes The Long Current. When a team is genuinely mixed, Secrets Through Time travels furthest — and a bespoke fourth subject costs a materials list, not a new program.

Another way to run it · Build & place

A hands-on build that keeps teaching.

Same DNA, different hands. In this format, your team builds real STEM learning machines — solar-and-water powered — alongside local kids, then discovers the twist: each team teaches a child how the machine they built actually works. The machines don’t go home with anyone. They’re placed with a school or community-garden partner, where a teacher uses them with a new class every year.

  • Built, not watched. Kids assemble alongside your team from the start — hand tools only, a fit for an engineer-minded room.
  • A surprise teach-back. Teams are told the machines simply need finishing — then learn children are arriving, with minutes to prepare to teach one.
  • A give-back that lasts. Each machine becomes a permanent teaching tool, touching hundreds of kids the team will never meet.
  • An optional 30-day challenge. One tiny shared habit per person over SMS turns the day into a month the whole team wins together.

What actually gets given

The give-back scales with the room.

Every pod of fifteen participants means five more children with kits of their own — so a general session of a thousand people is a thousand-participant event and a three-hundred-child event at the same time. That’s the number to put in front of a sponsor.

A reusable field case holding their own locked object — already locked, combination withheld. Inside: five secrets, one per station. Solve them, work out the last one, open it. With it travels a field book that rebuilds each experiment from household objects, and a challenge to run on somebody else. Its first page reads: scientists don’t just collect answers, they collect questions.

Every partner leaves with a collection

The children in the room aren’t the only beneficiaries. Each partner school or youth organization receives a classroom collection — additional locked objects, the science behind each one, the station kits, consumables to run the sequence through the year, and a facilitator guide. Larger events fund collections for several partner organizations at once.

The instruction that matters

The note inside the child’s lock: “You cracked the code. But that wasn’t the real mission. The real mission is what happens next.” Reset the lock. Choose a new combination. Build a mystery for a brother, a friend, a classroom. Inspire another mind.

Fixed at every size: ninety minutes, three adults to one child, five stations per pod, one locked object per pod, and the reveal happens once for the whole room at minute thirty. Lead time: roughly three weeks to around ten pods; six to eight weeks beyond that, for kit production and partner recruitment. Young scientists are approximately ages 11–13, one per team of three; partner organizations coordinate arrival, consent and chaperones, timed to minute thirty-five regardless of scale.

What is Inspiring Minds? +

A give-back team building experience. How many people can take part? +

From 15 to 2,000. The program is built out of one repeatable unit — a pod of fifteen participants with five young scientists — so it runs for a single executive team or a full conference general session. Because pods run simultaneously, it still finishes in ninety minutes at any size.

How long does it take? +

Ninety minutes, at every group size. Pods run at the same time rather than in sequence, so a two-thousand-person general session finishes in the same ninety minutes as a single-pod leadership offsite.

What are the three variations? +

The engine never changes; the subject on the table does. Secrets Through Time (codes and ciphers) suits security, technology, financial services and defense. Trace Evidence (forensic noticing) suits healthcare, life sciences, legal, insurance and audit. The Long Current (electricity and motion) suits energy, utilities, manufacturing, logistics and telecom. There’s also a hands-on build-and-place format where teams build real learning machines with the children.
