Experience · The thinking sport

The map is shared. So is the win.

In a wilderness orienteering adventure, no single team can finish alone. Teams navigate to waypoints by map, compass and GPS — and keep crossing paths, where they have to trade information and lend support to get everyone across the line.

What it is

A business simulation set in a large, remote outdoor area. Smaller teams are each given a map, a GPS unit or compass, and clues that lead to different waypoints — every one of them critical to the overall mission. The catch: teams intersect, and can only succeed by exchanging information and offering each other support.

How it plays out

Each team sets off toward its waypoints, solving clues and riddles along a custom route. Because the routes cross, people quickly learn that hoarding information slows everyone down — and that sacrificing a little self-interest is what lets the whole company win. It’s challenging, dynamic, and loaded with business metaphors that surface on their own.

Facilitation is the difference between a nice day out and a lasting change. At the end of each stage, facilitators debrief the team dynamics — how the group works, the role each person plays in making or breaking the team, and how supporting others changes the outcome. The connections back to the workplace are what give the day its impact.

What your team takes back to work

Participants are pushed to build trust, think strategically, play to each other’s strengths, manage limited resources and set self-interest aside so the whole team succeeds. Everyone leaves bonded more deeply with their teammates — and holding a specific, step-by-step plan for how they’ll support the team back on the job. We tie the whole day to measurable results.

What it costs

Cost flexes on group size, location, format and follow-up, so there’s no flat rate. Tell us your goals and group and we’ll scope a program with you. Book a call.
